Can't someone please fix online shipping, already?
Dear CNET members,
Let me ask you this, how many times have you gone online to an
e-commerce site, gotten all excited because it offered the
lowest-priced items on the Web, and added a whole bunch of goodies
to your cart, only to abandon your cart and the site because you
got blindsided by the ridiculous shipping cost? Or what about the
sites that offered "free shipping," but after you ordered, they
took way too long to process your order and ship it out? I'm
raising both my hands as I've gone down those roads one too many
times. That's why I'm always drawn to Amazon.com (with my Prime
membership) first for all my needs -- and if Amazon doesn't have
it, I may go elsewhere, but I seldom do.
In Molly Wood latest blog, "Can't someone please fix online
shipping, already?" she calls out e-commerce sites that just don't
have their shipping act together and says that if they don't get
it down right, Amazon will run away with all e-commerce business.
Read Molly's rant and tell us if you agree with her or not. Is
Amazon your go-to e-commerce site? Or do you prefer other sites
that offer better or similar services? What do you think is the
winning game plan in order for e-commerce sites to keep up with
their competitors, is it just shipping costs or other factors too?
Or is hybrid delivery model as Molly mentioned the way to go?
Many members have already chimed in to speak their minds, what
about you? Don't be shy, we are all ears!
Cheers!
-Lee
