This week in Windows software
There are quite a few changes to F-Secure Anti-Virus 2013 and F-Secure Internet Security 2013 this year, but nearly all of them are focused on enhancing security already in last year's suites, as opposed to providing entirely new features. Some of the highlights include a firewall that boosts outbound protection, browser protection that almost doesn't care which browser is your favorite, and compatibility with Microsoft's big October gamble, Windows 8. For the rest of the rundown, check out our full coverage of the release.
In other news, Microsoft's cloud storage and file-syncing service recently invaded Google Play. With Microsoft SkyDrive and Google Drive vying for the hearts of millions of Android users, we take a look at how the two apps compare on the platform. This week in Mac software
If you're looking for a full-featured image editor at a relatively low price, Pixelmator fits the bill nicely. Sporting a smooth Mac-friendly interface, Pixelmator offers a layout much like Adobe Photoshop's, with separate toolbars offering standard selector and paint-brush-type tools, a color-picker, a layer manager, and a brush picker with large array of options, from "follow direction" to multiple jitter settings. This latest update features an all-new Healing Tool and several improvements to overall performance.
Also this week, we have the latest version of Typinator, an autotyping and autocorrecting application that can be a huge time-saver, sparing you from having to retype frequently used words and phrases.
