Windows 8 Pro upgrade set for $39.99, Media Center too

Dear CNET members,

As you've probably already all heard, the final version of the Windows 8 operating system will soon be released (no exact date yet, but soon). And Microsoft has just sweetened the deal by announcing that for only $39.99 (good until January 13, 2013) Windows XP, Vista, and 7 users can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, and it will be throwing in Media Center too! Now to me, that's a reasonable price and when this upgrade is available, I'd personally be very tempted to upgrade a couple of my older machines running Vista. What about you, is this offer by Microsoft enough to convince you to jump to Windows 8 or are you going to stick with what you have? Given all that has been said about Windows 8 and the consumer preview version available for anyone to try, what do you think about Windows 8? Sure it's a completely different look and feel from the traditional Windows OS look, which may take some time getting used to (by the way, it can be set to the traditional look). But as far as functionality and performance, is it enough to convince you to move on to this new OS at this great offer? I know you probably have a lot to say, but first, read CNET blogger Brooke Crothers' blog: "Windows 8 Pro upgrade set for $39.99, Media Center too" and then join your fellow community members and voice what's on your mind. Happy Independence Day to all the folks in the United States!

Cheers!
