Help, Windows display setting keeps resetting after startup
|
 |
Dear CNET members,
Happy Friday! This week's question from Mel is in regards to Windows display setting, which keeps resetting after his system boots up. As you read through all the members' suggestions, the problem could stem from many different factors, including simple ones, such as the display settings accidentally set to an undesired setting, or a game, software, or device that resets the display resolution. Or it could stem from more complicated issues, such as a video card driver that has gone corrupted and would need to be updated (this would be my guess). Regardless of the issue, our members are here to help! So, Mel, while I have selected a few members answer in the Q&A to start you off on your quest to solve this issue, please check out all other recommendations from our members. And if have more questions or information to share, please be part of the discussion so that we can get your issue resolved. And if any of you out there have any additional suggestion to Mel's issue that hasn't been covered, I encourage you to step right up and post them in the discussion thread. The more knowledge that we exchange, the more we can learn from one another. Thank you for your participation! Have a great weekend and a happy Halloween!
Cheers!
- Lee

Help, Windows display setting keeps resetting after startup
On startup of my computer the monitor screen displays normal
sized icons, then enlarges to gigantic icons. After all
programs are started I right click on the screen and click on
properties. Display properties open, then I click on settings
and move the slider to my likings, I click apply and the
desktop reverts to normal size and operates in all areas
normally. The problem is I have to perform this task every
time I restart my computer. It's obvious that the apply/ok
setting in the display properties setting is not sticking. Is
there a fix for this condition? Please HELP. Running Windows
XP. Thanks.

| Check out next week's question: |
|
What can the Internet do for me?
I suspect a lot of us less "with it" techies would like to understand more about how to use the Internet--to watch television (on our TVs) and use our telephones more economically via the Web, and other things. I use Skype for calls, but I am puzzled by the other potential offerings and wonder when I can dump my land line, kill the cable (for TV), and even watch European shows. Also what more can I get out of the Internet and maximize use of it to the fullest potential to my advantage. Any hints, suggestions, directions, etc., would be very useful. Or is it better to wait a while longer?
